Charlotte County Artist Our father Adam sat under the tree and scratched with a stick in the mold. And the first rude sketch that the world had seen was a joy to behold...till the devil whispered behind the leaves, "It's pretty but is it ART?"
That question haunts many people who spend a great part of their life and energy creating ART. Can ART be what pleases the majority all the time? Can ART be what enrages and repulses the majority? What does the minority think is ART? Can ART be what makes us feel warm and fuzzy? Can ART be what infuriates us and makes our blood run fast and hot? Can ART make our hearts ache? There are as many answers to what ART can be as there are people who study, make, criticize, buy and look at ART. It's an elusive, maddeningly wonderful experience, trying, persisting and under the breath saying some very non-artistic words. Then one moment you do "get it." It's the trip, not the destination.
