Charlotte County Artist Rodman E. Taber, M.D.
Dr. Rodman E. Taber was a practicing Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgeon for more than 36 years. In that time he published 99 papers in medical journals throughout the world. He was an associate professor of surgery at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He was affiliated with Henry Ford Hospital before going into private practice in Detroit, Michigan.
Always interested in art, his actual classes in watercolor media began with his retirement to Punta Gorda, Florida. He had classes at adult education with Frank Mullen and classes at the Charlotte County Visual Arts Center with Kathy Bostwick. Workshops have been taken with Zoltan Zabo, Tom Lynch and Tom Fagan.
His artwork hangs in Maine, Montana, Texas, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Washington, Arizona, and Florida. His pen and ink sketches are being used in the booklet, "Punta Gorda Historic Walking Tour," I the book, "In Old Punta Gorda" and in the bi-monthly newsletter of the City of Punta Gorda. Recently one of his watercolors was printed in the "Annals of Thoracic Surgery," an official publication of the Society of Thoracic Surgery. |
