Charlotte County Artist Mary Ann Bablitz Mary Ann Bablitz is a native of Chicago who retired to Punta Gorda because of its beautiful Visual Arts Center, where she has been privileged to pursue and exhibit her art. She is presently a member of the Board of Directors of the Charlotte County Art Guild and Chairperson of the Goff Gallery. Mary Ann considers herself a contemporary realist looking for that play of light that will make her subject glow. She spends many hours researching subjects and creating interpretations of them. Mary Ann's philosophy is that although art is a great joy, it is also hard, disciplined work, and one has to be dedicated to be successful. Mary Ann has worked in watercolor, pastel and acrylic, but her favorite medium is oil. Her work may be seen in many public buildings and art shows around the tri-county area and is on permanent display at the Punta Gorda Civic Association. Her work is a collector's choice, and she has sold numerous paintings to private collectors and public organizations around the country. Her awards are as follows:
Mary Ann has studied art at St. Xavier University in Chicago and with such notable artists as Milton Lenoire, Helen Van Wyk and Daniel Greene.
